Drywall Repair

Drywall Repair and Texture Matching in Phoenix, AZ

A drywall repair is only finished when you can't find it. That means the patch is flush, the texture matches the wall around it, and the paint is feathered far enough that there is no halo where the repair ends.

We handle drywall repair across the Valley as part of a paint scope or on its own: cracks and nail pops, anchor and TV-mount holes, doorknob damage, water-stained ceilings, and popcorn or texture repairs that need to blend into an existing finish.

What’s included

What you get with drywall repair

Every item below appears as a line on your written estimate, so you can compare our scope against any other bid without guessing what each one covers.

  • 01

    Diagnose before patching

A water-stained ceiling needs the leak found first. A crack that reopens is telling you something. We flag the cause rather than covering the symptom.

  • 02

    Cut, back and patch

Damaged material cut back to sound board, backed properly, and patched so the repair has structure instead of just filler.

  • 03

    Tape, coat and sand flush

Joints taped and built up in coats, then sanded flush with the surrounding plane so the repair doesn't show as a bump in raking light.

  • 04

    Texture matching

Knockdown, orange peel, splatter and hand-troweled textures matched by hand so the patch reads as part of the wall.

  • 05

    Prime and blend

Repairs primed, then paint feathered out or the full wall recoated where blending would leave a visible edge.

  • 06

    Dust containment

Drywall sanding dust travels. The work area is contained and the space is cleaned down before we leave.

Preparation

How the surface gets ready

This sequence is most of the hours on a drywall repair job, and it is the part that decides whether the finish still looks right in year five. It is also the part that gets skipped by the cheapest bid you receive.

  1. 1Contain the areaFloors covered, doorways sealed, furniture moved or wrapped before any cutting or sanding.
  2. 2Remove failed materialLoose tape, failed patches and water-damaged board removed rather than skimmed over.
  3. 3Patch and buildBoard patched or filled, taped, and built up in successive coats with drying time between them.
  4. 4Match textureTexture applied and knocked back to match the surrounding wall before priming.
  5. 5Prime and paintPrimer over the repair, then the finish coat blended or the full surface recoated.

Arizona conditions

What this climate does to drywall repair

A specification that works in a mild climate is not automatically right here. These are the local conditions that change how we scope and schedule this work.

  • Texture is the local difficulty

Almost every Valley home has a textured wall. Matching that texture, not filling the hole, is the skilled part of the job.

  • Monsoon-season ceiling stains

Storm-driven water through a roof or an unsealed exterior joint often shows up first as a ceiling stain. We'll say plainly if the repair needs a roofing or sealing fix first.

  • Settlement cracking

Recurring cracks in the same place, usually above doors and windows, behave differently to a one-off impact repair, and get repaired differently.

Questions

Drywall Repair questions

Anything not covered here, ask on the walkthrough. We’d rather over-explain than surprise you.

Can you match my wall texture?

Yes. Knockdown, orange peel, splatter and hand-troweled textures are matched by hand so the repair blends. This is the difference between a patched wall and a repaired wall.

Will I see where the repair was after painting?

Not if the texture is matched and the paint is blended correctly. Where a repair sits in the middle of a large wall in strong light, recoating the full wall is sometimes the honest recommendation, and we'll say so up front.

Do you repair water-damaged ceilings?

Yes, once the source is dealt with. Patching over an active leak wastes your money. If we suspect the leak is still live, we'll tell you before we start.

Is drywall repair included when you paint a room?

Standard patching of nail pops, small holes and hairline cracks is part of interior prep. Larger repairs are itemised separately in the estimate so you can see the cost of each.
